Defying the man is awesome and all, a little rebellion never hurt anyone, but showing off your bellybutton is not what i call 'defying the man'. It just gives you a bad label, and gives people all the more reason to be stereotypical. These people just bought into a trend that was set out by the man. The man holds all the cards.
